Seniors Combating Loneliness Through Art

December 10 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Building Bonds

is a transformative art initiative designed to help seniors confront and express deep emotions—such as grief, joy, fear, and hope—through creative exploration. In a warm, welcoming environment, participants are guided by youth facilitators to channel their life experiences into visual storytelling. Whether painting memories from childhood, sketching symbols of resilience, or experimenting with color to reflect mood, seniors find new ways to communicate and connect beyond words. These sessions are more than art classes—they’re spaces for healing, reflection, and rediscovery.

By fostering intergenerational relationships and encouraging emotional expression, this program helps combat the isolation many seniors face. Participants often report feeling more energized, seen, and valued after engaging in the workshops. The artwork created becomes a testament to their inner strength and a bridge to family, community, and culture. Through Building Bonds, MASA continues to prove that creativity can be a powerful antidote to loneliness—and that every story deserves to be painted.
